Canmore, Alberta is located just east of Banff National Park and is about 110 kilometres (70 miles) west of Calgary, Alberta. It lies to the immediate North of Kananaskis Country and is in the heart of the Bow Valley, the Bow River runs through the town. The beautiful peaks of the Canadian Rockies dominate the horizon around the town, most notably the Three Sisters. In the winters Canmore is ideally suited as a base for downhill skiers as it offers easy access to several downhill ski destinations such as Lake Louise, Sunshine, Mount Norquay, and Nakiska. It is also within driving distance of many more downhill ski destinations such as Kicking Horse, Fernie, and Castle Mountain.
In addition to the excellent downhill skiing opportunities in the Winter, the Canmore area also boasts world class cross-country skiing, hiking, fishing, bicycling, and wildlife viewing. An excellent mountain town, Canmore has it all.
